ZHOU Jinfeng Meets with France’s Environment Minister Barbara Pompili at "SOS Ocean!" Summit in Paris

From March 30 to 31, 2025, the highly anticipated event, the "SOS Ocean!" summit was held at the National Marine Museum in Paris. Dr. ZHOU Jinfeng, Founding Chair of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), President of World Academy of Sustainable Development Limited (WAOSD) was invited to attend the conference. During the conference, Dr. Zhou met with Ms. Barbara Pompili, the Environment Minister of France.




The "SOS Ocean!" Summit served as a significant prelude to the Third United Nations Ocean Conference. It attracted government leaders, representatives of international organizations, and scholars from approximately 60 countries, focusing on core issues such as reducing marine pollution, curbing sea-level rise, and protecting marine biodiversity. The summit aimed to enhance public awareness of marine environmental issues and to urge the international community to take action to protect the fragile marine ecosystem.



The Third United Nations Ocean Conference will be held in Nice, France, from June 9 to 13, 2025, co-hosted by France and Costa Rica. The theme of the conference is "Accelerating Action and Mobilizing All to Protect and Sustainably Utilize the Oceans." It aims to bring together all relevant stakeholders to support further urgent action to assess and implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal SDG14. The conference will gather governments, international organizations, research institutions, non-governmental organizations, and private sector stakeholders to discuss key issues such as marine biodiversity conservation, sustainable fisheries, marine pollution control, and the blue economy.
