John MK Wong Talked about Qatar Marine Biodiversity Conservation at ICG 20

The 20th Annual Meeting of the International Conference on Genomics Wuhan (ICG-20 Wuhan) was held in Wuhan, China, from March 22 to 23, 2025, under the theme “Omics and AI in Biodiversity”.


On March 23, 2025, Professor John MK Wong, Executive Director of Regional Whale Shark Conservation Center (Qatar) and a marine and Expert from Ocean and Wetlands Working Group of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCDGF), was invited to deliver a keynote speech with the title of Qatar Marine Biodiversity Conservation.

Qatar boasts rich biodiversity, with documented records of 500 fish species (including whale sharks), 10 marine mammal species (including dugongs and dolphins), as well as three critical ecosystems: mangroves, seagrass beds, corals, and oyster beds, along with their associated marine life.
