"OceanWetlands" Editor-in-Chief Linda WONG participated in the Revision of SOWM Executive Summary (Chinese Version) , & highly commended by GMA!

In early December 2024, at the invitation of the Global Mangrove Alliance (GMA), Linda Wong, Deputy Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) and "OceanWetlands" Editor-in-Chief, participated in the revision of the Executive Summary of State of the World's Mangroves (SOWM) (2024) (Chinese Version).  As a member of the Global Mangrove Alliance (GMA), the OceanWetlands Group of CBCGDF has a long history of supporting GMA's scientific research and biodiversity mainstreaming. And this morning, CBCGDF OceanWetlands Group received thank-email from GMA team, expressing their heartfelt thanks & appreciation for Linda Wong's timely help & a very fast and comprehensive review!

Mangroves are one of the most productive ecosystems on earth, which not only provide habitats for countless plants and animals, but also play important ecological functions. Protecting mangroves means protecting coastlines against storm surges and tsunamis; protecting biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance; sequestering and storing carbon to mitigate climate change.

As an important promoter of mangrove conservation globally, GMA promotes the concern and protection of mangrove ecosystems globally through scientific research, policy advocacy, and collaborative networks. It's report State of the World's Mangroves (SOWM) (2024) comprehensively summarizes the current status of mangrove ecosystems around the globe, the challenges they face, and the progress made in protecting them in various regions. Just stay tuned!
