Day 1: CBCGDF UNCCD COP16 Delegation Attends the Opening Ceremony of the 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification
At 9:30 am. local time in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on December 2, 2024, the UNCCD COP16 delegation of six people from the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) attended the opening ceremony of the 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP16) held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The theme of the COP16 is "Our Land. Our Future".
As an observer to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, in order to actively participate in global desertification prevention and drought relief work, the CBCGDF UNCCD COP16 delegation sent by the CBCGDF International Department is attending on site the meeting in Riyadh.
UNCCD COP16, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from December 2 to 13, 2024, is more than just a key milestone to raise global ambition and accelerate action on land and drought restoration through a people-centered approach. The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification is the voice of the world’s land and one of the three major environmental conventions under the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, alongside the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC) and the Convention on Biological Diversity(CBD).
