CBCGDF BASE Sent a Letter to The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department of Hong Kong, Requesting to Participate in the Study of Dissecting the Stranded Beaked Whales

On November 30, 2024, a whale stranded in the waters of Tai O, Hong Kong. After receiving the report, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department of Hong Kong promptly coordinated with relevant departments and a joint expert team to carry out rescue work.

It is a pity that the rescue was not successful in the end, but we hope to learn from every natural loss to avoid more serious ecological disasters in the future. On December 2, the Biological and Scientific Ethics Committee of the China Green Development Foundation sent a letter to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department of Hong Kong, hoping to jointly participate in the autopsy study of the death of beaked whales and jointly explore the scientific data accumulated in this incident. This will not only help to deepen the understanding of the biological characteristics of beaked whales, but also provide a more solid scientific basis for future protection and rescue work.
