CBCGDF Deputy Secretary-General Attends the DSMZ Colloquium to Discuss Information on DSI at CBD COP16

On the evening of November 28, 2024, Deputy Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) attended an online seminar held by the DSMZ Science Policy and Internalization Department, focusing on the impact of the decision of the 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP16) on digital sequence information (DSI) on scientists, database administrators and sequence data users, and focusing on the scientific policy work before and during the meeting.

Experts at the meeting indicated that the results of CBD COP16 on digital sequence information (DSI) laid the foundation for a fairer and more reasonable global resource allocation. At the same time, there are still many issues to be resolved, including the management and contribution of the Global Fund, benefit-sharing triggers, capacity building and technology transfer. These topics will continue to be discussed in future meetings to ensure the effective operation of the DSI multilateral mechanism and the protection of global biodiversity.
