ZHOU Jinfeng Talks on the Three Levels of Compilation of Biodiversity Encyclopedia in the Era of Ecological Civilization

On May 18, 2023, the Biodiversity Encyclopedia Editorial Committee of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) held an outline-discussing meeting for the orientations of readers, the form, characteristics, and basic structure of the encyclopedia, and to simultaneously start the compilation work of the encyclopedia.

Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, the secretary-general of CBCGDF, emphasized that the Biodiversity Encyclopedia needs to be accessible to everyone. It should have both professionalism and popularization of science, with the highest standards and requirements in its profession. In terms of content, it needs to adhere to innovation and emphasize the most valuable knowledge. The overall logic of the book needs to prioritize problem-solving and knowledge dissemination. The structure needs to be flexible and can include a series of themes such as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), etc. It can also cover some case stories, the latest concepts and theories, etc. In terms of form, it should highlight practicality and innovation, and the electronic version can be launched first. The book will respond to demands from people and serve everyone. It should adhere to openness and gradually release content in stages.
