Preparatory Meeting by CBCGDF Delegation Attending the Second Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-2) of the Plastic Agreement in Paris

On the morning of May 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., the International Department of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) organized a preparatory meeting for the delegation heading for Paris. The purpose of the meeting was to actively and effectively participate in the second session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-2) of the Plastic Agreement, scheduled to be held on May 29 in Paris, France.

The Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF, Ms. Linda WONG, the personnel from International Department, the #BeatPlasticPollution taskforce of the CBCGDF, and the members of the delegation attending the conference in Paris participated in the preparatory meeting.

Firstly, the personnel from the International Department of CBCGDF involved in the conference provided the delegation members with an overview of the conference process and specific guidelines for each stage, ensuring that the delegation members had a clear understanding of the entire process of the INC-2 meeting. Secondly, the preparatory meeting outlined the coordination between the front-line delegates attending the conference and the support personnel in the background, aiming to achieve the maximum outcome from the conference. The Deputy Secretary-General expressed gratitude to the delegation attending the conference in Paris and provided suggestions based on previous experiences: coordination between front-line and back-end personnel, confident engagement and communication with relevant individuals at the conference venue, and ensuring the smooth operation of conference facilities. Additionally, the preparatory meeting established a unified working group for the delegation members and shared international contact information, ensuring efficient and smooth participation in the INC-2 meeting, which is set to commence on May 29.

The CBCGDF INC-2 delegation will be fully engaged in the plastic meeting and will share timely updates and reports to the Chinese community.
