At the event, a short play “A Hope More Powerful Than the Sea” jointly created by Chinese directors and actors officially met with the public. The short play is adapted from the novel with the same title, which tells the true story of a young girl named Doaa who fled the Syrian civil war and crossed the sea for survival.
Ms. Melissa Fleming, author of the book and the Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications of the United Nations, said in a video message that “Doaa’s story spans time and space, establishing a connection between people, making people all over the world resonate at the same frequency and unite to find solutions to the challenges we face”.
