CBCGDF CCAfa Volunteers Guard Birds This Spring

On April 14, 2024, four volunteers from the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Community Conservation Area (CCAfa) in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, went to patrol as usual. After two days of investigation, they found 5 illegal hunting sites.

On April 16, 2024, volunteers discovered an illegal hunter, at one of the illegal hunting sites. After the volunteers called the police, relevant law enforcement officers from the Public Security Bureau seized two bird nets several meters long, 6 electronic bird traps, and 8 live bird traps, including Cocothraustes migratorlus, Chloris sinica, Spinus spinus,Common Rosefinches(Carpodacus erythrinus) and other wild birds.

The volunteers educated the hunter on the harm of illegal hunting to wild birds and the natural ecological environment. The case has now been handed over to the public security organs for further investigation. At several other illegal hunting sites reported by volunteers, the public security organs have also arranged for personnel to continue to watch, observe, and conduct further investigations.
